A Physical Therapist (PT) helps patients recover from injuries, surgeries, or illnesses by improving their movement, reducing pain, and enhancing overall physical function. PTs use exercises, manual therapy, and specialized techniques to guide patients toward recovery, improve their quality of life, and prevent further injuries.

What you'll get to do...

  • Assess Patient Needs – Conduct physical assessments to evaluate a patient’s strength, flexibility, and mobility.
  • Develop Treatment Plans – Create customized rehabilitation plans that address specific patient needs and goals.
  • Implement Exercises – Guide patients through exercises designed to improve movement, strength, and flexibility.
  • Provide Manual Therapy – Use hands-on techniques, such as joint manipulation and soft tissue mobilization, to relieve pain and improve movement.
  • Monitor Progress – Track patient improvements and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Educate Patients – Teach patients about injury prevention, posture, body mechanics, and ways to stay active.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Providers – Work with doctors, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Document and Maintain Records – Keep accurate records of patient progress, treatments, and outcomes.

Your experience should include...

  • Degree in Physical Therapy – A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree is typically required.
  • State License – All PTs must pass a national exam and obtain a license in the state they practice.
  • Strong Communication Skills – Ability to explain exercises and treatments clearly to patients.
  • Patient-Centered Care – Compassionate and effective care in helping patients recover.
  • Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology – A deep understanding of the musculoskeletal system to design effective treatments.
  • Experience with Rehabilitation Techniques – Knowledge and application of therapeutic exercises and modalities.
  • Physical Stamina – The ability to stand, bend, and assist patients in their exercises for long periods.
  • Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to identify challenges and adapt treatment plans to meet patients’ evolving needs.
